Toddler sunglasses NZ — actually tough enough for kindy, the park, and everything in between
Finding toddler sunglasses that actually stay on — and survive being pulled off, thrown, stepped on, and occasionally chewed — is harder than it should be. Te Rā sunnies are made specifically for this stage. The TR90 frames flex in every direction without snapping, the lightweight design sits comfortably on little faces without slipping, and the styles are bright and fun enough that three and four year olds actually want to wear them.
Every pair is certified to AS/NZS 1067.1:2016 with UV400 Category 3 polarised lenses — the highest protection level available for NZ sun conditions. Toddlers spend a significant amount of time outdoors during peak UV hours — at the park, kindy, the beach, and Playcentre — and their still-developing eyes are more vulnerable to UV radiation than older children's.

What actually matters for toddler sunglasses
Toddlers have a different set of requirements from older kids. They're rougher on their things, less likely to tell you when something's uncomfortable, and far more likely to refuse to wear them if they don't feel right. Three things determine whether a pair of toddler sunnies works in practice:
- A fit that actually stays on — lightweight, sized for a toddler's smaller face, not heavy or loose. Heavy sunnies fall forward. Too-big frames slip off. Te Rā's Whetū is proportioned for this age group specifically.
